Memorial Biography

Frances Groover, of Carrollton TX (and formerly of McLean VA), passed away Saturday, November 2nd at the age of 89. She was born to Methodist missionary parents Mark and Gwen Jones Freeman in the Netherlands East Indies, and grew up in Sumatra and Washington state. She was proud of having worked as a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II (making B-17s and B-29s), and having paid her own way through college and graduate school. She graduated from the University of Idaho magna cum laude, and got a Master's in Social Work from Western Reserve.

She was a devout Methodist all her life, and was a source of art, song, and joy to all those around her. She was blessed with a magnificent singing voice, and sang many solos in many church choirs over her many years. Her quirky sense of humor was balanced by great reservoirs of love.

She inspired everyone she came in contact with, and was one of the most genuinely loving, non-judgmental souls you could ever meet. She brightened the lives of everyone she came in contact with. She will be missed by many.
